Microsoft Bing has currently reached a milestone in its business operations, as it has announced a new partnership between itself and the Yahoo search platform. A recent Bing Blog post, dated August 24, 2010, stated that the search powerhouse would now be powering Yahoo’s search results in the U.S. and Canada. Just the other day I received an email from Bing detailing this, as well as other pertinent information.

Evidently the new functionality will also enable one to move their Yahoo search campaigns directly into their Microsoft Adcenter account. For those who currently don’t have a Yahoo Search Marketing account, they are encouraged to prepare their search campaigns for Yahoo by using the Microsoft Advertising Intelligence to gain current search statistics and tailor keywords/campaign details accordingly.

As with any merger of this magnitude, the benefit to the marketing team increases insomuch as one’s ability to capitalize off of this “new found” traffic source. Is this Bing’s answer to the giant known as Google? Read the rest of this entry

Greetings all. I’ve been thinking of an alternative way to turn a profit out of un-used or under-performing domains. Have you ever been faced with the dilemma of trying to decide on the best in domain parking solutions? How about trying to monetize a site that was parked? Domain parking is a process, offered by most domain registrar services, that allows for an owner of  a website or web address to customize their domain names. Once parked, basic advertisements are placed on this domain in the hopes that some revenue would be shared with you via the parking service’s PPC platform. I’m sure you’ve seen these parked domains before, as they tend to be really simple in design with not a lot to visually draw one in.

When thinking about a solution for your parked domain, as a general rule, you’ll want to cover the following criteria: Read the rest of this entry

Domain name purchasing is one of the most important aspects of Internet marketing. By far, almost no other action that you may take, to increase your online business, will be as important as a strategically chosen and placed domain name. Okay so you’re probably wondering…what exactly is a domain name? Quite simply a domain name is  the name, prefixed by either http:// or www. , that a given user will type in to find your site on the information highway (world wide web).

Technically speaking a domain name has an  Internet Protocol (IP) address associated with it. You purchase this domain name from what is known as a domain registrar. Domain name servers interpret the written domain name (http://example.com) as numeric characters associated with the IP address (32 bit binary code comprised of electrical “1″ and “0″) and store this information to answer queries on inter-networking data devices. In the background of the Internet, basically, things are working to allow users to find your site…at this particular level. Read the rest of this entry

Today I’d like to talk about a powerful new development over at Twitter. According to the Twitter’s blog, they’ve unveiled an easier way to market to/with like-minded individuals. Twitters “who to follow” is an algorithm created by their user relevance team which makes it easier to find people within your specific range of interests. They have functionality to expand this list, shown on your Twitter homepage, and view an exhaustive list of Tweeters in your particular areas of interest.

Twitter’s who to follow will also show suggested users based on friends already in your list .  When you visit a friends page, you will be prompted with suggested users. My idea is that if your page isn’t primarily set up for business, or more importantly niche-specific, you may get suggestions that don’t necessarily meet your criteria. You can easily select to hide these types of suggestions and the Twitter interface will try not to suggest these users to follow again. Read the rest of this entry

Today I’d like to talk about a great way to increase online exposure to your business opportunities for FREE. There are some great free and paid video creation software, out on the web, but why not give YouTube’s “search stories” a try? YouTube has released its platform for a 35 second story video creation software called YouTube Search Stories.

The idea behind this is that every every search, performed by an online user, tells a specific story. The first step in this creation process is to enter up to 7 search terms in the query box provided. After this you can put music to the story (great stuff if you ask me). The very last search term serves as a “closing statement” to the theme of your video. Throughout the creation process, there is an excellent preview menu that lets you know if your search terms will output your desired result. Read the rest of this entry

iPhone 4gToday I’d like to talk about mobile advertising and its impact within the realm of internet marketing. Before devices like the iPhone and iPad an internet marketer was limited in her/his advertising reach within the global community. I mean, sure enough, you could still target major search engines for organic  or paid traffic, but that has always been limited by 1 thing. The home computer desktop or laptop. With this framework in mind, one could only target prospective customers when they were at home, work or possibly on an airline flight that permitted the use of computers.

Just when you thought the universe of internet marketing couldn’t get any more interesting, WordPress has just released its newest installment…Wordpress 3.0 Thelonius! This version, number 13, is named after American Jazz legend Thelonius Monk. Thelonius Monk inspired us all with his musical talent and, likewise, WordPress probably chose this name because they aim to inspire with a fresh new platform!

The new features of WordPress 3.0 are many. At the time of this writing, I’ve had the opportunity to head on over to the WordPress blog to update myself on the new functionality of the WordPress admin panel. One of the cool things that I noticed, beforehand, was the “Update” feature located just below the Dashboard icon within my admin panel. It had been a few days since I had been in the E-Turnall panel and, as such, I had some plugins that needed updating.

To my surprise, I now had the option to update my plugins and WordPress software and not have to worry about anything going wrong…Wordpress put my blog in Read the rest of this entry

Mom and I inside Twinity

Okay so the story goes like this: My mother recently discovered online gaming and really liked the zWinky genre of games, but some functionality was missing. Not to take anything from zWinky, but the feel of this online gaming  community tailors to a younger generation of online gamers.  This game is still, however, a great game to play and I am even an online affiliate of this genre. The suggestion for my mom was, nonetheless, to move towards the Sims online gaming genre.

The problem?

Even when one purchases this game, it’s more of an individual experience and not a lot of online interaction. This is what my Mother was looking for. While the Sims is another great gaming opportunity, there are certain functions of the game that even I was not happy with. While this genre of game cators to a more mature audience, there is still functionality that My Mom and I would have like to have seen…but was just non-existent.

The Solution?

Google recently announced their creation of a Google Television (TV) platform slated for release in the Fall.  According to representatives at Google, this will change the world’s television experience forever. This new platform is built on Chrome and Android.  It’s been said that the average American watches roughly 5 hours of  TV a day. With so much attention aimed at the boom tube, what ways are there to place your offers/business in front of the viewers at just the right time? What ways can we, as online marketers, capitalize off of this revelation?

Well for starters, it should be noted that Google owns Youtube. Any fellow YouTubers out there (smile)? If so, then you may have already realized that, upon creation of a video, there is functionality for allowing your video to be syndicated on various mobile and content networks…but it doesn’t stop there.

Not only that, You can use a lot of its extensions to further your online business. What do I mean? When going about the process of your online marketing strategies, what sets your brand apart from the rest? How are people able to trust what you’re saying a product is able to do? How does ethics play a role and local and international business. I’ll try to answer these, as well as other interesting, questions throughout the remainder of this writing.

More often than not, there are individuals out there that cut corners when it comes to Internet Marketing (IM). IM is not a get rich quick scheme and takes lots of work to perfect. One thing that can set you apart from your competition is how ethical your campaign is or, better yet, how well you are able to conduct yourself on an international level.

Global , as opposed to local business ethics, is a topic that covers multiple scenarios and time zones. How does the individual go about reconciling her/his personal, cultural and organizational ethics when dealing in business internationally? Why is this question important? How might the individual accommodate international business with a culturally sound code of ethics? These and other topics will be answered within this writing.
To get at the heart of the topic, some background is in order.
